Why I’m Running
Most of us were raised to love our neighbors. Our politics have forgotten this.
My name is Jared Sluss, and I'm running for State Senate District 7. Because loving your neighbor isn’t a slogan. It’s a responsibility our leaders must reflect in the choices they make and policies they fight for.
I wasn't planning to run but I couldn't stand the thought of the people I care about having no voice and no real choice in November.
Every year, our neighbors work more to earn less as groceries, rent, healthcare, utilities and childcare costs go up. The people in power seem to be content with talking points and band-aid fixes for wounds that go deep.
Meanwhile, 16 years of one party rule in Alabama has meant broken, unreliable healthcare, billions in tax breaks to data centers, unaffordable living, & half-funded pre-k.
Those are our hard-earned dollars. Imagine what they could do for us if politicians actually cared?
Those aren’t our values and it's not what Alabama families deserve.
I graduated from UAB with a degree in public health and spent nine years trying to live my values out- working in affordable housing, neighborhood development, and small business ownership. I know what it looks like when a community is left behind and I know what it looks like when people show up for each other.
You deserve a life you can afford. We deserve politics that love our neighbors.
I’m running to deliver it.
Common-Sense Priorities
Loving your neighbors means investing our taxpayer dollars where they can count.
Your nurse is underpaid while you pay more and more each year. We can fix it by expanding medicaid & enforcing transparency.
Your bills keep going up. What has Montgomery done to make your life more affordable and fight back?
It's time to eliminate the grocery tax, invest in affordable housing, and lower utility and insurance bills because you deserve live a life you can afford.
Hungry kids can’t learn. Working families are stretched thin. And the teachers and staff who show up for our children every day deserve to know they’re valued. They’ve had 16 years to show this We can’t wait for politicians to do better. Vote for change Nov. 3rd.
Here’s the plan:
Fully fund breakfast and lunch. Hungry kids can’t learn, so no child should sit in class wondering where their next meal is coming from.
Fully fund pre-K. When children have a place to learn, working families have the freedom to work, and every child starts strong.
Pay our teachers and support staff. The people who teach, feed, drive, and care for our kids should know they are valued, and our schools should be places people want to work.
Jared Sluss is running for State Senate District 7 to fight for all three. You deserve a life you can afford. We deserve leaders that love our neighbor.
